My wife's grandfather bought us a car valued at £1900 in January this year. My wife is the registered keeper, however it was given to us with the understanding that when we could pay for the vehicle we would. Is it likely to be seized as an asset?

Hi Tom,

It may be at risk if you declare bankruptcy. Does your wife use this for work purposes?

I suggest you speak to an expert on here for debt advice and to chat everything through to see what your options are.

Hello there

as a precaution I would get your wife's grandfather to write a letter stating that he purchased the vehicle for her use, to enable her to work etc. If that was the case and he was prepared to put it in writing I do not forsee any dificulty, the OR's staff are not monsters and can be quite understanding

Hope this helps, Melanie
