Hi, So has anyone had a problem with the tax since going BR? my husband received his payslip this week and tax man has put him on a 'K' code stating he owes the tax man £2300 for 2009-2010 which is when we went BR my tax code is fine...We did call and they insist he owes the money. So we went Br in the september 2009, it took til January 2010 for them to put us on the NT code, so we paid 3 months direct to Moonbeever...does the OR ask the tax man direct for the other 4 months?? my understanding is all tax is due to them from when you go br until the end of the current tax year...I hope this is making sense...I'm just concerned they will make him pay this supposed underpayment.HELP

no he should not owe it, what MAY be happening is that it may have nothing to do with the Nil tax code at all, but may just be coincidental with the fact that the taxman got 6 million peoples tax wrong any way and hasbeen sending out letters to many people to reclaim tax, Inevitably some of those people will also be bankrupt. But even if it is this if the rpayment was for your bankruptcy year then it is a debt in your bankruptcy and so does not need to be repaid
