Hi, i am due to be discharged from my bankcruptcy in a months time and would like to knwo the best approach for working towards being able to raise a mortgage in the future? i will have an excellent salary and would be able to have a sizable deposit. Are there any real possiblilities or will it be better looking outside of the UK? any guidance much appreciated.

Hi and welcome.

Will you be paying an IPA? That will make a vast difference to your income as all disposable income (after normal household bills have been paid) over £20 will go to the OR for three years.

As to a mortgage, don't forget that the BR will be on your credit record for six years from the date you declared.

We do have a mortgage expert on here called Ryan - his details can be found under the experts lkink on the left hand side of the page. Give him a ring for some free advice.

Follow through
Make your dreams come true
Don't give up the fight
You will be alright
'Cause there's no one like you in the universe
