I applied for a joint bank account with alternative bank, who I have a mortgage with. It has been declined, as they told me I was bankrupt. I have not and never have been bankrupt. I am in arrears for approximately 7 or 8 months.

Hi William,

Get a copy of your credit report and see what's on there, also log onto the insolvency register at the insolvency service website and see if there is anything under your name there.

Hi William, and welcome to the forum.

Heres a link to check the register
http://www.insolvencydirect.bis.gov.uk/eiir/

You can usually get a free 30day trial period with credit reference agencies, just remember to cancel the subscription before the 30 days is up.

Hope you get it sorted.

Bear in mind that the free trial is only available for those who have never used it before

I'm sure that would become evident when you try and access the free trial.

There is more than one agency to try as well.

William, let us know how you get on.

You will need to check your credit reports with Call Credit, Experian and Equifax.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.
