Hi Tracey,
I obviosuly wasn't trying to dispute what Coveritall had said, just to give a balanced view, from the financial odbudsman service. (link can be provided).

If we did everything without any risk, none of us would be in debt, and we'd only cross the road at zebra crossings ;-)

I didn't think you were and I totally agree about risk! The main reason I checked was I didn't want to be prosecuted for driving with no insurance!

My personal opinion (and only my opinion) is that if something is a material fact than it's the duty of the insurer to make it clear. As it seems as though that isn't necessarily the case it's better that people are aware.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.

True, but you can't keep declaring it forever.

My personal opinion again,
Say you were prosecuted for drink driving, its on your licence for a while, but you stop declaring it after 5 years to insurance companies.

Some views on here seem a little extremist one way, without looking at the extremes the other, hence me trying to offer an alternative view, and not just my own, but from the financial services odbudsman.

Its good to talk ;-)

In fact, the whole ethos of BR is to have a clear break and to start again, especially to encourage entrepreneurs.

I believe that Coveritall on the sister forum still declares his BR even now.

Ascend may you find no resistance
Know that you made such a difference
All you leave behind will live to the end
The cycle of suffering goes on
But memories of you stay strong
Someday I too will fly and find you again

Well that's a personal decision.

I don't go around shouting about mine.

If I'm required by law to declare it, or think its in my best interest, then I do.

I doubt people declare openly lots of things they're supposed to, but keeping within the law is the main thing.

Hi pcoventry
I'm glad you got your car back.

Maybe one day you can feel you can post your circumstances, but I understand if you can't right now.

I had various vehicles in BR, and slightly complicated, but was glad to have some returned.

Keep your chin up.

Hello,

Sorry Ive been trying to get on this site for days. For me it's really fast until I log in and then it takes 7-8 minutes to change the page!

everything else is fine. I get the same result on several connections.

I wasn't sure if the OR could reverse their decision to sell my car but I assume they wont because it's been paid for now. At the time I was not sure if I was going to return to work or not.

Basically a week after this all happened the DVLA revoked my driving licence due to my eyesight. So now I definitely won't be returning to that job.

Swapping your keys for a Disabled bus pass - very scary!

I've also got Osteophyte in my lower neck and top of my spine so for that reason alone I am dangerous to drive. I didn't know until a few weeks ago about it. It can only be pain managed I am told, the risk to operate is high.

So even if my eyesight came back tomorrow I still have that to deal with.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like the bus pass is your only way forward at the moment.

Thanks. And it is. Luckily I can still get to where I need to go (or would want to go right now) so it could be worse.
