I was discharged in June 2008. My credit report shows the credit history with one bank that has marked me as defaulted with the default date set as my bankruptcy petition date, current balance satisfied. I read on MoneySavingExpert that as soon as you've been discharged, all your former creditors are obliged to set your current balance as settled, no longer defaulted, and use the discharge date as the Settlement Date. Could you please clarify what my position should be and if the bank is still acting correctly, and what I should do about it? Thanks.
If the default date is your bankruptcy and it's showing as satisfied, then that's fine. The defaults will still show as you defaulted before your bankruptcy. Once the 6 years are up, it will drop off.
The more I have to do with humans the more I think that the world would be a better place if it was run by animals.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.
