I'm in the process of immigrating due to my partner being relocated back to the USA (he is from there I am from here). I am currently under a debt management scheme, but am really struggling to pay the repayments of 100 a month. If I declare bankruptcy, will this affect me emigrating?

Hi Betty,

There are no restrictions in bankruptcy that say you can't go, but you would need to find out the criteria yourself for emigrating, as every country is different and have their own rules.

you could always emigrate first and then petition for bankruptcy.

if you do not want to fly back consider lasting power of attorney

Good Luck Richard,
