i have been overpaid income support 6000 and housing benefit 8000 and council tax 2000 i have been put on a curfew for three months and i have a 12 month suspended sentence from the courts. i am unable to pay this amount back as i cannot afford to my partner now works and we recieve child tax credits we pay full rent and council tax and if i agree to make a payment it will take years to pay this amount back. i feel that my three children will suffer and go without such things as holidays, christmas birthdays school trips etc. i am so stressed about this whats the best thing i can do to help my family out of this situation

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Are these court fines?

The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity. – Ulysses S. Grant

Hi glyngladdi,

Is the sentence to do with the benefits or completely unrelated?
