Hiya again, ive read through the info on bank acounts but just need clarification please. I have a joint bank account with my husband, and my benefit gets paid into it along with his salary. So if they freeze it, how would he get access to his money and/or me to my benefit? (It was his account for years then he got me added but i only have a cash card) Would he need to open a new bank account or would the bank just probably remove me from the account ? many thanks Bill

Hi Bill,
You will need to check with your bank, if you have a basic account you should be ok but again it would depend on who you bank with, i currently bank with barclays and they kept my bank account open, make sure it is not with one off your creditors as well.
Alot of people use the co-op as they are ok with BR. The OR does not freeze your bank account this is down to the bank so before you petition is would be good to check this out.
I apologies for my keyoards poor spelling and grammar. |

hello bill and welcome to the forum, coco is correct. The OR doesn't freeze the account that's up to the bank's term and conditions and whether or not they allow bankrupts to have accounts.
Maybe, the best thing to do would be to remove your name from your hubby's account and open your own account? Co-op is a bank account you should be able to open with no hassles. I opened mine with Thinkbanking.
Take care
I am not a bankrutpcy professional, but I have filed for one.
All I have left is my sense of humour.
