I am going to petition for bankruptcy before the end of this month. Today i went and paid my rent for last month, i always pay it at the end of each month when i get paid, but it would look on my rent statement that my account was in debt and i have cleared it. However i'm suddenly thinking could this be a problem, would it fall under prefernce payments?
My landlord wouldn't be classed as one of my creditors but could it be viewed that i had a debt that i have paid with preference to that creditor? This is how i always pay my rent and obviously i am going to pay it as i don't want to be homeless!!!
Any advice would be very gratefully appreciated. |

Your rent is an ongoing line of expenditure, and to pay the monthly instalment now would not be deemed to be a preference. If you don't pay your rent, you may lost your home, so the payment is ably justified.
