I was a self employed lawyer when due to career difficulties became heavily indebted with my tax payments. I obtained an IVA, but defaulted. A bankruptcy petition has been sought and now I have since found regular employment as a lawyer within the civil service. Will this be grounds for the court not to grant the petition on the basis that I now have the means to make regular payments to clear the outstanding debts (£50,000)?
When is the petition due to be heard? It will take time to get an IVA submitted, but you can get an adjournment to give you time. It's worth looking into this as an alternative.
I agree with Melanie here. Perhaps your first port of call should be to try an IVA as BR would mean you would have restrictions in how you operate at work.
