Just a simple post for those doing searches on the forum to state that I have just been informed that it is not possible to hold a Corporate AMEX card during BR unless the company has full liability for the payments.
I hold a Corporate AMEX with joint liability for the payments and even though I have never had to make a payment on the card I have been told that my company are not going to budge on this as it is company policy to have them with joint liability.
I now have the unenviable task of informing my boss that I can no longer undertake a 12 month secondment to Manila as I will simply not be able to support myself whilst there.
Ultimately I accept full responsibility for the actions that lead to my Bankruptcy but to miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity is really heart-breaking.
I don't suppose the OR has the ability to prevent a company from freezing an account? as refusing this secondment will probably impact my future employment with the company and possibly lead to my redundancy coming early (still at least the IPO/IPA will be cancelled).
If this thread can prevent somebody else from making this mistake in the future then my work is done.
Unfortuneately the OR cannot dictate to creditors who they should allow to have an account or how they should conduct their account.
Is there no way your company could get around this. You are able to get a prepaid credit card, so would they fund one for you or make arrangements for you to be paid on a regular basis while away. Would any one else be prepared to accept the joint liability with the company, such as your parents, with the card being in your name?
