Hello everyone, we are going bankrupt on the 21st of july but my partner has taken some pursuading and he is trying to tell methat even after your discharged it is on your credit file for always is this true?
I still believe tht given our current situation we are doing the ight thing but I would like to know ?

I believe that you are on the public register for 1 year and it remains on your file for 6 years. Think of that as a positive. If its on your file, you will have great difficulty getting credit. Do you really want credit? Use the next 6 years to change your way of living and your spending habits, by 2014 you'll be a different person and credit will be a dirty word! Oh and dont worry too much about mortgages. You can still obtain one, there are specialist brokers out there who will help you. You will be debt free and the lenders will see this but may charge a slightly higher rate of interest, mind you who can get a mortgage these days? Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Your BR will show on the insolvency register until 3 months from the date of discharge - for example I was made BR on 29th March 2007, discharged on 29th March 2008 and off the register on 29th June 2008.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
