Hi all!

We went bankrupt on Monday morning and everything went well :) We received some forms from the OR today to fill in and send back along with bank statements, credit card statements, etc (which I have done and sent back)and our OR meeting is next wednesday - mines at 11am and my parntner's is at 2pm on the same day.

My partner is self employed and im employed so we was wonderng how the OR will work out our income, as my partner has only been self employed for 2 months so his accountant can only show 2 months earnings. Obviously his wages are somewhat unpredictable and we need some advice as to what to put down for our expenditure as we will be losing our property where the mortgage was £400 a month more than the rent and the council tax will be a bit cheaper and the gas and electricity will be on card meters whch we have never used befoe so we dont know how much we will need each week for that. I understand that food, clothing and other household expenses will remain the same but my partner now thinks we will be paying a lot more into a IPA now than if we'd of stayed in our own propety? He's being very negative towards me and has accused me of ruining his life! :( - he thnks he will be totally resistricted in all areas of his life? All i've tried to do is follow some advice of professionals and work towards us having a debt free future and a more affordabl property to live in:( Please Help!

Thanks for your Help,Helen x

Hi Helen

Hang in there babe, it just sounds like he is upset with himself and transfering it to the person closest to him....it's hard to loose something like a house, but he'll come around.

You are lucky to have your OR meeting so soon....mine has just been set for the 6th Aug (nothing sooner), and I haven't recieved their letter yet....

Hi Helen

Hang on in there hun, it will get better!
Debt does its damage in various amounts of ways but you have just got to try and keep it together.
As it is at the moment you dont know what your new outgoings will be and it will be pointless for the OR to give you an IPA until you settled somewhere, so dont worry. The OR's are quite human really and only doing a job so keep your chin up.

Hi there,
Just reading the post here, be strong and you can work this out. I know it may not seem like it at present but you will get there, whats that expression "Rome wasn't built in a day" and to be honest like others have said he will be a little nervous too as most men tend to react differently. I have been accused the last few weeks of being the only one who got us into debt, the only one that wanted the house and its all my fault. My other half does not listen much and cant see the true things in life he looks through rose coloured glasses but that does not make reality and now its a case of throwing information at him and hoping it sinks in. Finally we have started to get some sense as im the practical one and well him, never mind, i love him to bits and when we nearly split for good i took on a new role, i did not however back down, he wanted to go BK and i agreed and i said we would go BK together but i refuse to take all the blame.
He also wanted the house "gone" but after I rang around and got information on where we stood we have stayed here and will wait to see what the OR wants.
I gave up my 3 yr nursing course as it was not being done at the right time, he hated nights so went onto days, now with the children I cant do my nursing course until they are 14 which is 5 years away and I also when I look for a job will have to do nights because i cant just do what we did before, but yet again i went along with what he wanted to keep the peace.
Anyhow Girl, you be strong, I have our appt on the 4th of August so i will then be in same boat, not knowing how much we will pay if any, where we go with the house etc etc and then the only good thing in that time will be any letters and calls we can say heres are BK number and our OR dealing withit you contact them NOT US!
If you wanna talk ask admin to get you my email address I dont mind you having it.
Take care and as I say below.......

"Lifes too short, Grab it while you can, Make each day count and live life to the full. Dont Worry- Be Happy!"
