Hi, my partner I have ended our relationship & because we have joint debts and owe more on the house than its worth, we have both decided to petition for bankruptcy and leave our joint home. I have decided to move back to my home town & am about to start a new job & live in rented accommodation. When filing for bankruptcy, will I have to do it in my new town or from the previous? Will my application be rejected if my income is lower that my last job, & I have no surplus income for a IPA? Very worried and confused. Need A fresh start.

Hi ant

your bankruptcy would not be refused due to the lower income after your move.
Wherever you have lived for the greater part of the 6 months immediately prior to date of bankruptcy is where you should petition.
So if you are going into court within 3 months of your move then you need to petition in the area you live now.
