Me again we went BR last monday and my bank accounts are still accessible from the internet.
Any ideas on how long before they close them.
Thanks
JO

Hi Zoe
I have a Natwest savings account which is not a creditor, I have allianace and leicester and Lloyds who are.
I can still get access to the A&L and also the Lloyds accounts, we were in the London Gazette last Thurs 7th and also been on the Insolvancy register since last Tuesday.
I dont understand why the A&L and Lloyds have no stopped access as these are the 2 that I dont want to get acess too but I do want to keep my Natwest savings account.
Well thats if they will let me
Jo

I opened a NatWest current account in May (not a creditor), and I've still got access to it. I went BR on 7th August, and the OR showed me a letter he sent to NatWest's insolvency department.

To be safe, I opened a CoOp cashminder and had my wages directed there. Shame really, I was very happy with NatWest and the Maestro, but I couldn't run the risk of my wages not being paid into an active account.

Hi,
I had 2 accounts. The Halifax one got frozen a week and a half after bankruptcy when they saw my name in the London newspaper (they told me in the letter) and is now closed, and one with the abbey which is still running now almost 3 weeks after bankruptcy. I have heard of others that are still using bank accounts 7 weeks after.

Hi thanks for the replies. I spoke to my OR yesterday and she said my natwest and my other savings accounts will be closed as i have a credit bal £1.59 in each and suggested that I open another account for savings to go in.
She could not stop that as there was credit in there even if it was small.
Never mind i have my coop account and eventually I will get a savings account to save some in for hols etc but thats eventually.
Take care
JO

I got paid the day after I went BR, and the Court Insolvency chap and the OR said it's fine to clear the account out.

Hi All, I am disabled and live entirely on benefits and pay all my bills etc by direct debit.
As my main creditor when I become bankrupt will be the bank I use for everything how will I get money to live, pay household bills etc, as I don't want the little money I have coming in going to pay the creditor and ending up with more debts! Especially as my debts are just loans not household bill defaults.
I have also been told by National Debtline that due to my circumstances I may be able to get a grant to pay for the receivers fees...anybody know about this?
It's amazing, if I had the money to pay out the fees I wouldn't be putting myself through bankruptcy!lol.
Thanks all

Hi Cathp, if your main bank account is with a creditor you will need to change it. You can try a Co-op Cashminder account or Barclays cash card account if they are not one of your creditors. If you have no luck there I believe that the Post Office have an account that is only for people on benefits and is available to undischarged bankrupts.

I don't know about getting a grant to pay for the BR fees, but I know that if you are on benefits you may be entitled to have part of the fee waived. Also, some of the utility companies have schemes where they will help with the BR fees - the CAB may be able to help you with this.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
