Hi
if you really can't manage them there are companies that will do so on your behalf. I've seen £350 to £1000 quoted for this type of service.

Hi Aren
I found the insolvency site and did them online and submitted them myself, I asked questions on here and got the answers to my questions.
We could only just afford the BK fee let alone paying someone else to do them, I was quoted £250 each by one company and then did them ourselves. The site to look at is:
http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/index.htm
Give them a go its quite simple to do and follow I think most of us on here now used that site.
Of course its up to you.
Take Care and Good Luck
Jo

Hi jo & aren
this is an interesting topic which has been posted before. Many feel that paying for a professional to complete the forms is a waste of money, some feel that professionals that provide such services should be frowned upon.
Certainly my view is that unless you either have, or can acquire, sufficient funds to pay for this type of service the arguement is academic and you should take advantage of forum's like this and the guides available on the insolvency websites. Any mistakes or omissions of fact will be highlighted by the OR's examiner.

The key to the professional's service is not that they dispense with the need for the OR to help as the forms are completed accurately and in full for the petitioner to submit to the court in the first place.
The professional has a wider understanding, knowledge and experience as to what expenditures are acceptable and what level of expenditure should be claimed taking into account the individuals property size and family numbers etc.
Thus there is a potential saving for the bankrupt.
How many petitioner's put the full net income of the partner as the answer to the question about "other contributions to the household"?.

Let's say you submit your petition which shows disposable income per month of £300. The OR will take 60% (£180) per month for 36 months by way of an IPA at a total cost of £6,480. If the professional's skills and knowledge could have reduced the disposable income by £100 to £200 per month, this reduces the IPA monthly payments to £100 giving the client a saving of £2880 over 3 years.

If a case is clearly not going to show any DI then I would not suggest professional help.
Nor would I do so if the fees are too much of a burden.

However, there is a case to suggest that some may clearly benefit from a profesional's help as per the scenario above. The example shows a saving of £2880 against an average cost of £500 for the service.

As always the choice belongs to the individual.

I would be very interested to hear what other members of the forum feel about such services.

Hi John,
I did not mean for my reply to apply that people should do it themselves, I did add at the end in a round about way that its up to the individual themselves and to what they feel they can do.
Of course the professionals should be contacted and advice listened too and taken if they feel it is required.
Im sorry if i sounded like i was being negative towards getting the correct advice, I was merely stating that if they do decide to go it alone then the Insolvency Site is where to go to fill your forms.
Sorry Aren if i offended you or gave you ant wrong information.
I did clearly say its up to you at the end of the day, only you can make the choice.

Hi jo
please don't think that I had taken exception in any way to your comments. It truly is not the case.
I merely wanted to make the point that often it is clearly the correct choice for someone to do the forms entirely on their own.

Let's face it, that's a large part of the value of this forum and the site helpline.
And I'm very much with johns here jo, you really must continue to post as your contribution is invaluable.

But I am also interested in members opinions on the principle of professionals providing fee charging services where their case requires it and funds permit.

Hi we have just declared ourselves bankrupt and the company that helped us charged us £250!!! (thats for the both of us)they do my partners accounts as he is self employed so we needed help in that department for the BR forms, having said that they were only able to put down what information we gave them and we had to sign a declaration to the fact that they held no responsibility for anything that was incorrect on the final draft as we had to do a draft copy first and alter anything that needed it. However, they were very helpful, gave us lots of advice and we were able to phone them anytime if we werent sure of anything, so i felt it was worth the money! £8K seems an awful lot of money to me!!!

Thanks for your Help,Helen x

hi sorry i meant to say i posted this answer to someone who was quoted £8K for filling out forms earlier last month! I think the professionals DO help but as I said you can get FREE advice on here or if you get your BR forms from the court and then get an appointment and go t the CAB they willhelp you fill them in as well. Hope this helps?

hi Helen
many thanks for your post.
I too posted on that same thread re the £8K charge.
From what I could gather from the information given, the chap had no assets so the professional did not need to use his skills to protect them. This leaves the forms and the fact that they were prepared to deal with the creditors up until the point of BR and accompany him to the court and the OR's meeting. Regarding the forms £250 you paid was a good deal, but to charge £8K for form filling and moral support seemed way off the mark.

Hi Thanks all for the words of wisdom.
Im just feeling a little stressed out thats all I have my interiew later and I think i was taking things to heart, sorry i did not mean too.
Anyhow like you have said you can get a good deal of advice and help from many sources, its totally how that individual feels they can cope with it.
I would never have just gone BR without getting advice first, i was not really in a position to pay for any one to do the form for me.
Good luck to all.
JO
PS I will keep posting hopefully im learning fast.

I completed the forms myself online. Hopefully I won't upset anyone, but I feel that unless the case is complicated the majority of people can complete them themselves or with the help of the CAB. Charging up to £1000 doesn't seem right to me - saving the money for this must delay the BR process for a lot of people, and increase the stress.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Hi skippy
I would agree that unless the funds are available, delaying for months to accrue the fee could prove very stressful.
Thanks for your comments
