Does anyone know whether Estate Agency is a profession you can work in once you have been made bankrupt? I have seen the odd comment about certain restricted professions and once I saw something that said you can't be in Estate Agency. I have been working for my partners business and whilst it's not a great market to be in, he really does need me on board and it means I have flexibility (being a Mum and I have a condition which means I have to go into hospital for the odd day here and there). If it is a restricted profession, is it just for the actual 'professionals' or does it also include lowley negotiators and admin staff?
Would be very grateful if anyone knows the answer to this! Many thanks.

Hi

I don't think it would make any difference to negotiators and admin staff, and don't see how it can affect an estate agent unless he is receiving rental monies from tennants on behalf of landlords, as this would be the only money they would be handling belonging to anyone else.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has a different take on this.

Hi
you can't be a partner in, or run, an Estate Agency, as a sole trader, in bankruptcy but being employed in one is perfectly OK.

Thanks so much for that, it was one of many uncertain things that have been worrying me!
