As anyone else had callers to there home address regarding their outstanding debt. Cooperative bank have contated me regarding my credit cards arrears, have instructed a company called Power 2 Contact, to visit my home home address within the next 10 days.

I am not happy about this as I have already contacted them by letter and told them that a 3rd party is dealing with my debt problem and that they should have heard from them by now. I also said that all further communications should be made through them. So why are they sending someone to my home when there is basically nothing to discuss.

If someone does call at my home do I have to discuss my debt with them, or can I tell them politely to go away.

My mother who is 76 years of age lives me and I do not want her to get worried about all this as elderly people do. If she owed a £1 she would get worried about it. I do not want her to be subject to any of these callers especially if they call when I'm out.

How can I stop me?

Hi debtrider
the only surefire way is to go BR then it would all stop overnight.
The lender is permitted to do this as they are owed money. You do not have to speak to a debt collection agent. But they may keep coming back.
Are you intending to go BR and if so have you yet made your appointment?

Hello John

I am getting some professional help at the moment and looking at going bankrupt in September.

If someone does call all I can say is that I am dealing with my debt problem through a 3rd Party.

Hi Debtrider,
Just a thought, have you tried calling the company? I've had letter's threatening a visit before and whilst they may be entitled to do this I found that when I called and told them I was dealing with the problem they then agreed to call off the visitors! Whether it be that you tell them your plans to BR or offer to contact them in a week or make a token payment or whatever you can offer, they may back off. I found that they werent too nasty either.
Might be worth a try for the sake of peace!

Hi debtrider

If you are going BR in September then do yourself a favour and book yourself into court, providing its not a walk in court. You can then call the agency and tell them its a waste of time them calling because you are going BR on ????? date! If someone does call just tell him/her the same, they will probably be fine with you.

If you are in need of any further help or assistance, please contact me regarding my services via email.
