Can i do a bankruptcy by myself without an insolovency practioner or some financial advisor (FA). I'm just a working guy that has run up debts with one thing and another. A practioner has told me i have know choice but to apply for bankruptcy. I have the forms and filled them in, but will the county court allow me to preceed by myself without a practioner or FA? Can you advice me on this? Matt
hello matt, yes you can petition your own bankruptcy. Contact your district courthouse to see if you require an appointment for the day you plan on petitioning. The fee is £485 cash per person.
Also seek professional advice because the judge will ask you if you had and if you reply no it'll be a waste of your time and money. CAB and CCCS are good places and the CAB they will assist you in completing the forms.http://www.cccs.co.uk is the link for the CCCS.
There is also an insolvency helpline numberwhere they can assist you in completing the forms.Insolvency on 0845 602 9848
Good luck.
I am not a bankruptcy professional just someone who has petitioned for one.
