Hi ros.s

the short answer to that is I'm afraid you can't.
There are steps that can be made by creditors prior to bankruptcy but once it's done the debts are effectively written off.

The OR will look at this person's income and expenditure to see if he / she can afford any monthly payments. If they can then the estate is shared pro rata amongst the creditors once all monies are collected.
To collect the money, even if there is any avaliable, takes 3+ years.

Even if it was a court order for a small amount £100 month Im nearly sixty and Iv got to write £3000 off this cant be right. I always thought you went bankrupt because you lost your job and had dept but this person has got a good job and kept his very large £15000 4x4 and new caravan. Even if i have to wait there is no chance i will get it I no this sounds a desperate plea but my son has cancer and has two small children and I would have prevered to give hime the money.

Hi Ros,

You can always put a written claim into the Official Receiver. The deatils can be obtained from the Insolvency Register: http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/eiir/
