Hi,I went to High Court 2 weeks ago & had my telephone interview with the Official Receiver 18th August. I was just wondering if anyone can give me an idea how long it might take for the Official Receiver to get back to me to let me know what is going to happen with my bankruptcy. I realise this could dependy on whether or not she needs to ask me more questions about my debts but I was just hoping someone could give me a rough idea from their own experiences? Many thanks |

Well Graham and welcome,
That depends how straight forward your case is but also how busy they are. We went BR on the 4th of August and have had our telephone call, just waiting to hear about the other bits now, it can take up to 12 weeks i think.
Maybe another expert or other member will know more and then I will have more knowledge.

Hi Graham and welcome to the forum.
The fact that the OR has done your interview by telephone means they consider your case quite straightforward. After my telephone interview, I heard absolutely nothing until I received my early discharge questionairre 5 months later.

Hi Jo,
To be honest, 6-8 months discharge seems to be about the norm (just had a case where the guy was discharged after only 4 months). The OR will only keep you in BR for as long as it takes to deal with your case (IPA/IPO, assets etc). You usually get an early discharge questionairre after 5/6 months anyway, so don't give up hope just yet!
I was actually discharged after 7 months. Apparently, it would have been earlier but the examiner dealing with my case left and didn't hand it on to anyone else :(

Thanks Julian,
I wont give up hope just yet then, i mean its only been 4 weeks so who knows.
It has been a very emotional time for us and now im looking forward to a completely debt free life.
I was looking through the finances the other day and i really cant see how we managed but somehow we just did.
Thanks again,ur a STAR.
