My Hoover has just bitten the dust. only decided yesterday to give up and go BR. not yet filled any forms etc. My question is
do you think it would be ok to use some money to buy a new cleaner or do you think the OR would think i was taking the p...

No that is absolutely fine, its an essential item.

I agree with Jo. Essential household goods are expemt from BR.
