Hy
I have some friends who are thinking of going to live in Seattle but have a large debt - would their creditors be able to find them and force them to pay up even if they were to become USA citizens?
Any advice would be welcome.
Many thanks

I am not sure of USA law but I think the creditors could force bankruptcy on them in UK and could get a court order to reclaim there money back - I think I read this in the insolvency.org guidelines.
We were made bankrupt the day we moved abroad and we are complying with the Offical receiver to pay back as much as we can. Lying is not worth the stress or hassle
Maybe they can consider an IVA ?

Yes the creditors might be able to find them. You also have to consider how much money would they want to spend looking for them. Also costs involved trying to recover the debt in another country?
