Hi again,
Should i be getting a new bank now. we are going BR on 9th OCt.We dont have CO-OP banks in this area the nearest one being 48 miles away. Has anyone had success with other banks or is a list available.
Cheers

Hi tracy

Our local coop is 40 miles away but we can access on line and through the post office and cp's so its not a problem for us.

I did my account after BR but some did before its up to you, really.

Keep Smiling
Jo :)

hi tracy,

Best to open the new account after BR as there is a chance it will be frozen on publication of your BR. However, if you let the manager know in advance, there is a great chance they'll keep it open for you (quite a few people have had success in this area).

Hi Tracy,

That won't be a problem. the best advice is to clear your account just before you go BR. If you've only got a few hundred quid, you'll be fine as the OR appreciates you need money for food and bills. Just remember to let them know what you've done.

Thanks Julian,
Didn't want my kids to go hungry and also end up in fresh debt by not paying the bills!

Hi Tracy - my OR made a point of checking I had access to money when I had my phone interview so they understand you need to sort out bills and banks etc.
The co-op were really good and didn't make me feel bad for having just gone BR.
Good luck

I can second the Co-Op - excellent bank. The Manager was totally supportive when I applied (and got accepted) for the Cashminder on the day I went BR.

My local branch is also some 40 miles away.
