Dear All,

I was just wondering...is it exactly 3 months after your discharge date that you come off the insolvency register?

When you are discharged you can write to the court and get a Certificate of Satisfaction for £60 (further copies £1)and then you send this to who? Experian?

I am due to be discharged in a couple of months and just wondered what the best thing is to do, to improve your credit rating!

Thank you

Hi 369

I think your right it 3 months after discharge, then all you need really is a letter from the OR, maybe they could send you one to say thats it instead of paying a further £60 to get the cert.
Only a thought. LOL

Hi there
I was discharged June 07 and my details should be off as soon as the 3 months are up.
I didn't need to get a cert of discharge experian were informed by OR. I didn't see point of spending if i didn't have to! When you are discharged the insolvency register states on it that you have been. I just printed copies in case anyone needed them.

I didn't get one either - I didn't want to spend £60, as as far as I'm concerned it should be free!

I've been writing to my creditors (with a copy of the printout from the register showing that I'm discharged) and asking them to amend the default dates on my files as some were after the date of my BR. I have also asked them to mark my files as either satisfied or partially satisfied, as at the moment they still show that I owe money!

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Thank to all who replied...

That's what I wanted to know, whether to write to my creditors as well as Experian. Cannot wait to do this and finally move on!

Think I will get the Certificate of Satisfaction as well - as I want to apply for the police and will need this in the future.

Thanks guys

Out of interest, how soon are you able to apply for the Police after discharge?

Similarly, I know two people in my area who went BR 6 months ago, but still aren't on the Insolvency Register. Their BR's are both current and neither have been annulled.

Hi Zamfir

Not sure about the Police thing.
The people you know did they have a personal reason why it was not put on there, could be they have asked for there details not to be listed. Some situations can cause that to happen.
Other than that i am not sure.
Maybe someone else can shed more light on those questions.

Hi, in answer to your police question, I live in London and spoke to the Recruitment Team at the MEt Police and they said that I would not be able to apply until 3 years after my discharge date. I am being discharged in Nov 08 and so will not be able to apply until Nov 11, seems crazy that people with minor criminal records can apply and maybe get in, when I who got into debt for a various amount of reasons have to wait 3 years!!!

Other police forces may differ though...

Thanks

Hi 369

To me thats not fair. BR is not criminal, well not in 99% of cases just over spending etc so that does seem a little bit harsh.

I hope that both you and Zamfir get in to your dream jobs in the not too distant future.

Good luck with it all.

I agree 369 - I want to join the police, but I'm going to have to wait 3 years, by which time I'll be 36 and they probably won't want me as I'll be too old!

What annoys me is how many serving police officers have debts? Surely that makes them more of a risk than me, as I don't have any!

BTW that's not me having a pop at any serving police officer, just the system!
