Hi Nicola

I would but make sure there are no funds in the account when you go BR.

Explain to the OR that you need this account and that it is for utilities and bills and its just a basic account.

That is what i would do. Someone else may say no need but im a worrier and i like to be upfront.

Thanks Skippy,

I was not 100% sure, but i would rather list than not and end up in BIG trouble. :( If you know what i mean.

Same here. I found a credit card that I'd forgotten to list (23p in credit!) and I panicked - my over active imagination went into overtime!

You should make sure there is only a few pence in the a/c on the BR order date. You should list it as one of your bank a/c's. Good news: coop basic a/c (assuming it is the cashminder a/c is BR friendly and you will be able to keep using it. If you like you could open a Nationwide basi a/c as a backup, too.

I'll be interested to know how you get on Jo as the last I heard Nationwide weren't opening accounts for undischarged bankrupts any more. I phoned and asked if this was right, and they said yes.

My bank account had a nil balance at the time of me going BR (and I listed this on the SoA form).

I got paid the day after I went BR, withdrew all the funds and kept them aside (the OR authorised this).

The OR then sent a letter to the bank, authorising them to release the funds to me, providing it is not £200+ more than the amount I quoted on the SoA forms.

I've not heard from them since, depsite sending a few letters to ask whether I can keep the account running (as I had a Maestro card and no borrowing in effect).
