I am about to petition for bankruptcy as I''ve no way of repaying debts. I''ve already failed in an IVA as my income dropped significantly.
I''ve read quite a bit on it but still have one question. If my bank account is frozen how do I access my salary for bill payments and feeding my family?
The OR would not stop you from taking monies out for your general household expenses, most people take it prior to BR for the fees and living for that month and explain to the OR that is what you have done.
You can the apply for an account the day of BR for your wages to go into and also benefits if you have any.
If your account is not ready when you are about to be paid maybe you could ask a friend or relative for one month to allow them to go in an account of theirs, but also when it comes to benefits apart from CB these will allow you to be paid by giro while you wait and the CB can be held until you give them new bank details.
I hope this helps. It is also a good thing to try and time your BR hearing just after you get paid if you can then hopefully that will give you enough time to sort out for the next payments.
If however you do still have monies in their as say you get paid weekly then explain this to the OR and they will sort out for you to get your monies.
