hi all, i have just been to the courts today and declared myself bankrupt, i am now waiting for the receiver to contact me to interview me.
the problem i have now is when i got home from the courts my girlfriend who i live with told me that she has been offered a job, but i wrote on the bankruptcy forms that she was claiming child benefits only.
im frightened if i tell them that she has now got a job and starts in a week that they will see my household income has increased and will want a lot more money from me for the next 3 year ?
i hope this makes sense to someone.

Hi Hips87 and Welcome

If i were you i would mention to the OR at time of interview.

You have 21 days in order to inform them of any changes so explain to the OR that she has been offered a job and that you dont know if she will take it ir even what the money side of things will be, you can then tell the OR that as soon as you know you will inform them.

It can also depend on how much your girlfriend contributes towards the household bills so if she gets say £500 per month but her commitments are £300 then she may only give you £100 for the bills so the OR would only have another £100 on your income and expenditure it wont be all of it.

Take care

Hi Hips87 and welcome to the forum.

When you went to court, you swore an affadivit to say the information was correct to the best of your knowledge at that time. Without the power of clairvoyance, you weren't to know about your girlfriend's new job. Don't worry, just make the OR aware of your change in circumstances at the interview.

thanks for the reply guys and sorry for the late reply i have been working shifts and had lots to do and lots to worry about.
i have my interview next thursday with the OR.
i am now worried that they will take my monthly pay out of my bank account and leave me with no money for a month to pay rent and bills !
my monthly pay is £1400 and goes in my bank the day after i have my interview, if they take this i am in trouble and will end up i debt again !
can anyone offer advice as to what to do ?

Hi Hips87,

Don't worry. The OR knows you need a roof over your head etc, and makes allowances for rent, bills, travel to and from work etc. Take the money you need, but let the OR know what you've done and you'll be fine!
