Hello,

You can apply for bankruptcy outside of the uk, however, you will have to appoint a trustee (i think that is what it is called) - and that will cost you money to do that.

It is better to do it yourself, however, i think you have to have been residing in the UK at the same address for 3-6 months before you can decalre bankruptcy.

I would give the help line a call...just to be sure.

I am thinking about moving to New Zealand next year - well coming out on a working visa and seeing how it goes - any tips for me?!

Thanks

It's not a trustee - it's a Power of Attorney!

Thanks for your reply, plenty of work here for semi-skilled sparkies/plumbers/joiners/teachers. After you get over the holiday honeymoon feel you soon settle in here with plenty of ex-pats in Auckland and North Shore, most things are now on par with UK, food, house prices, but more to see and less population. Been here now for 2 years no regrets didn't come here with rose tinted glasses NZ does have some problems but nowhere near on the scale of UK.

Thanks

Hi

you need to have been living in the UK at some time in the last 3 years to petition while abroad - otherwise you will need to come back to the UK and reside here to do it.

It is called a Lasting Power of Attorner and can take up to 12 weeks to get authorisd by the Govt deoartment. Also costs £150

Petitioning for Br will cost £507 because it is in the High Court in London.

You would need to either fly back and do it yourself or hire a company to do it for you
