hi i was wondering about surplus also - i rent a small room at present for £45 a week but would like a larger room or small flat in future so my 'surplus' of £150month would be needed to fund this -i would also have to save for a deposit somehow. am i trapped by this or if i rent somewhere better would i have to have income re-evaluated. i go to citizens advice tomorrow to finish completing the forms but they dont seem to know everything. i feel a bit down - if i had to live in this room forever i dont know what id do

suggest you speak to an expert to help get a priority plan together.

£180 per month is really very basic and can't see any reason why you wouldn't be allowed a reasonable level of accomodation provided that you can afford it.

Is there any reason that you can't wait to go Br for a couple of months until you have money for a deposit and have moved to a new place?

you would need to change a few things on the form but surely it is worth it if you get a better home?

Hi Useful

When it comes to your I&E you do need to speak to someone who can go over it with a fine tooth comb, if it can save a little money from an IPA then its worth the call.

Give either Paul or Bret a call, or best of all call the 0800 078 9367 number and get someone to call you back to go over it.

It could save you in the long run.

Best of luck

Please do give us a quick call, it will help to save a lot of hassle in the long run and its better to get the I&E right from the start.

hi, meeting at cab went well and they have said i can apply for a reduction in court fees and did the forms for me, i just need proof of income letters from pension and inc. ben. and then it would cost £345 instead of £495. - so maybe im worrying about nothing again - thanks for your replies but if i phone now at this stage and get conflicting advice i would be a jelly again. Just want to get forms in and to get through the next few weeks and i will be free hopefully - thank you for your replies, ive chirped up a bit

Word to the Wise.
Try and save the deposit and move before going BR.

We went BR 1st and have had all manner of problems getting rented accomodation.

One Letting agent said they wanted 5 months rent upfront plus one months rent.

They wouldnt entertain guarantors or strike a deal to let us pay 1.5 times the rent for so many months to make up the silly deposit.

I advised them the place we would like to rent had been stood for 2 months and that it will probably be stood in another but they remained stead fast.

Try and delay the BR if you can and save for the deposit. Move in before the BR. I presume it is a lot easier.

Matt
