I work full-time now, but was self-employed and I owed someone I employed some money which I couldnt afford to pay at the time, so it went to industrial tribunal and this sum has now grown to over £8,000, can I go bankrupt and include this money in the bankruptcy or is it a business debt and cant be included. thanks |

Hi Jud and welcome to the forum.
Firstly, we'd need to clarify whether this £8k award is actually classified as a court fine. If it is, then it's excluded from BR (if not, then it can be included and written off).

I am not really sure if its court fines or not, but this is what it says: judgement debt: £7303.77 judgement costs: £35.00 execution costs: £50.00 interest: £164.06 sheriff's fees: £911.66 VAT: £159.55 can any or all of this be included in BR I am hoping for an answer tonight as I want to go to court tomorrow thanks |

Hi Jud
I would give the helpline a call its free and then you can explain this to the advisers on there it would then give you a better picture.
That number is free and its 0800 078 9367, just leave a message and your name and someone will get back to you.
