 accountant messed up my vat

hi i had a small computer business which i had to finish as due a wally of an accountant messing up my vat leaving me owing them £2800 i finished august last year 2007 with my business account bieng frozen i presummed that the vat would seize the account which had £2,500.00 in at the time now its well over a year later and the money is still there is there any way of me getting it back if so what would the precedure be thanks andy

did HMRC petition for your bankruptcy for this amount or was it a limited company?
