Hi, if i go bankrupt and i pay my gas and electric and gas up to date so i don't end up with expensive prepayment meters. would that money be taken back by the OR? also i was a sole trader up to friday when i had to leave my shop but my books are far from great which is partly what got me so will that be a massive problem?
Speak to your providers - I must admit I threatened British Gas a little in order to remain with them on a credit meter. Something along the lines of "I'm going bankrupt, I do owe you money but only because of your mistakes (this may differ in your case obviously) but our meters are in a communal area and should you wish to fit a pre-payment meter I'll only let you do it on the priviso that it's on exactly the same rate we're currently paying. If you don't, I'll have you up for breach of human rights - you've already stepped over the line and you've been investigated and wrists slapped for the charges on PP meters - don't make it worse for yourself" So I'm bankrupt and still have both my normal meters on sensible rates :) So point being, have a chat with them first. If they say they'll only change for a PP meter, do as I did and say they can do it if they keep the rates the same.
I've been thinking about how to stay trading online as paypal say I have to have a business account and obviously this would be closed. My husband and I are not together anymore but we have 2 toddlers so he is here everyday to help with business and see the kids so if he opened a business account could I sign the business over to him then put money coming back as contributions towards the bills? Or is it not that simple? I wonder if the OR would question why I had signed it over etc?
