Hi, I have recently been made bankrupt and the Official Receiver has taken all the funds ( all £120) from my bank account which they have said they will keep open, but the bank is closing the account. Firstly, can I request the OR to give me some of this money ASAP as I have nothing until I get paid in 2 weeks. Secondly, which bank accounts can I open? I would only need a basic credit account. Thanks for any help

Hello j2000,

Yes contact the OR and ask him to release the funds to you.

Also, alot of people have been applying for the Co-operative Bank basic account and have been successful, so i would try them first. They are Bankruptcy friendly people.

Thanks

Hi J2000 and welcome

I would certainly do as 369 has suggested anad get in contact with your OR and explain that you need that money to be able to live as you have nothing until pay day.

I would also contact the Coop and apply for a cashminder account, this can be done over the phone or in the branch.

Good luck

Jo
