Hi

Just had a letter for OR about the IPA Tax code.

On the BR forms i put the amount of tax i was paying (£225) but since then the tax code has changed I am now only paying (£165). The OR has worked out the amount i need to pay at £225.

What should i do. i only have one pay slip to prove the lower amount as the other pay slip shows my bonus (which they know about). i will get another pay slip on the 25th of this month which will show the lower rate.

Do i write her a letter explaining this and that i will forward the last pay slip when i get it. It has not gone to anyone yet it was just a letter for me to sign with the agreed amount and terms and conditions, which has to be back within 14 days.

sorry for the long winded post.

i just need some advice

thanks
s

Hi sahara

I would wait till you hear from the collection agents that would be instructed by the OR to collect the money from you and then inform them that the PAYE has now changed and that you are now paying a lower amount in tax per month.

They can then do a change of circumstances for you and arrange to have the payment changed.

Take care

Jo

Thanks Jo

i have just read the letter again and it says if i am not happy with the terms of the IPA to contact the OR within 14 days. Also once it is agreed then they will tell me how to pay either direct to OR or via a Collections company.

I am just worried if i sign this letter then it will take weeks for them to sort it out, if i wait before mentioning it.My tax code changed on 30th sept and i did not realise. I went BR on 8th OCT.

Hi Sahara

I would wait as i did and contact the collecting agents. Our ones sorted it out very quickly, we did write to the OR about it after we signed but heard nothing back, thats why we waited and told Moonbeever about the big change of amounts.

Its all sorted now and from going BR to the code changing it was about 12 weeks.

Moonbeever sorted the amount within 2 weeks for us and now we pay much less as it should be.

Have you signed it already?

Hi Sahara,

We had our NT IPA letters come through last week. My husband's was way too much as the OR asked him what he thought his tax was roughly and he said a figure, then it came through with that figure on. My husband looked at his last few wages slips and it was £50 less so he phoned him up and he received the revised sum yesterday.

That's all you need to do I'm sure.

Thanks jayne

i was thinking of sending her a email and explaining the tax code change, as i hate speaking on the phone (bit of a phobia) im sure if she needs proof she will ask for it.

Do you think that will be ok

Hi Sahara

Try the phone call, email or send a letter first, if that does not work then you may have to do the same as we did.

Let us know how it all goes. Dont be scared to call them, you have rights you know and you may get it sorted out sooner rather than later.

Best of luck

Jo
