Hi wandering whether anyone had been in same position. Me and hubby parted company in September, he moved out. I went BR in Oct letting the house be repossessed. We have found a rental house and me and hubby are going to get back together at the end of January when lease finishes. I have three questions:-
1. I get paid weekly from WTC & CTC when would be the best time to tell them that me and hubby are living together again, would it be the week before and advise them of date, I dont want them to over pay me or anything.
2. I know I will have to advise OR of change of circumstances, does hubbys wage come into it, as it was me who went BR?
3. Hubby will most likely be declaring BR when we know the shortfall probably next summer sometime, I could well be discharged by then as OR said she is recommending me for early discharge. Would they take my earnings into account with his BR?

sounds like great news so congratulations!.
if you are together then hubby's income will be part of the household income so will have a bearing on an IPA. However your WTC & CTC will also change.
best time to tell them is as soon as hubby moves in.

Thanks Paul, Worked through figures and would be £76.00 DI, the house running costs would be slightly higher due to the rental house we have found being a 4 bed detached, but very energy efficient, plus he has payments for a DMP currently. Do they ask for his payslips and bank statements etc?
I presume when the time comes for him, the I&E would mirror what mine would be after the move, obviously taking into account any rising in Council tax etc.

Sounds like a New Year New Start for you, which is great news.
1 - I have only ever informed Inland revenue of changes when they actually happen (dont think they will except them before - in my case they would not anyway)
3 - Well i went br on my own in october and my hubby's wages etc did not get taken into account, only his contributions. As the OR said that they were not his debts therefore he would not need inform them of any changes in wages etc.
Hope i have helped a little, but i can only go from personal experience.

| Thanks Jenny, I am hoping for a total fresh start. We saw a beautiful house yesterday, it is everything we have been looking for and more. There was another girl who went round after us, landlord (as they are still living there at the moment) told us, dont think he was spinning us a line as they seem genuine people. I had been and got an application for prior to our viewing so these have now been completed, agents were closed after our viewing at 3pm yesterday and closed today, so I will be waiting outside at 9am tommorrow lol, its a first come first served basis. Fingers crossed - will keep you posted x |

Thanks very much Paul, I think the whole debt thing had a huge part to play in us parting, but now things have been done on my side and he has seen it wasnt an awful experience, he is far happier in himself now too.
I know we all get ourselves into this, but facing up to it and getting yourself out of it is far harder.

Well i will certainly keep my fingers crossed for you for tomorrow and hope things come together. It must be a male pride thing, i know it would be with my hubby, but he has been amazed at how 'low key' it actually is and would consider it if he ever needed to.
