Hi hanlou
I opened my Co-op account over the phone and told them up front that I was going bankrupt. I am due in court next week and have had the account for a few months now. I went into my local branch and asked them what would happen next Friday. The woman was very helpful and after a phone call she said that the account would remain open and we could continue to use it. She said they wouldn't freeze it as we had no debts with them.
I think it is best to be up front and you should have no problems. All dealings I have had with them have been very good so it may be worthwhile giving them a call.
Kind regards,
Amanda |

Hi Hanlou
I agree with Amanda, its best if you can to get that account opened before, then at least you can have wages, benefits etc paid in.
Also you can sort out your DD's etc too.
Best of luck

Hi JO
My nearest branch is 40 miles away but i do mine online and also through the post office.
The account can be opened at a branch or over the phone.
Honestly we have all had these accounts now and regardless of where i branch is it does not matter as like i said we have adapted and just use the next or pop to the local PO.
Take care

Hi
I telephones and opened ours over the phone on the Saturday - we went BR the following Thursday. I did not tell the co-op we were going BR.
The OR called us on the Friday and said our accounts would be frozen etc and I told him we were in the process of opening a co-op account and he said that was fine - he was not interested in that.
The welcome pack came through on the Saturday( 1 week after my initial phone call) we do not have a local branch so we use the post office and online. No problems at all!!
