Hi all
Not sure if its just me, but all my dates are wrong on my statements this week...and now have been charged 19.50 for a dd that was unpaid, even though there was more than double in to fund it.
Please all check your statements !!!!!!!!

thats weird, on the 25th we had three standing orders totalling £1120 go out. Also, same day we had £1600 go in. The statement showed £1120DR I rang coop and questioned whether the standing orders would be honoured and if I would be receiving any charges and "Barry" on customer services assured me that it was just the way the computer statement worked and that the standing orders are indeed honoured and no charges will be applicable.

Hey Matt
That is really strange....all my dates were 1 day behind, but i did say that even though my credit was showing the wrong date there was still enough money in. They apologised and told me the money has been refunded. I can only urge you to keep an eye on it.
Also, something else has now happened - my bank card has been declined when im putting money in !!!! phoned the coop and been told that the OR has wrote and told them to freeze it as they want all my money out!! I had a conversation with or on day of br who assured me that they would write to coop and say they are not interested in it as it is purely a bills account.
It seems that they changed their mind when they saw the balance and because im paying cash in each week instead of a bank transfer from hubby....My OR has been horrible from the off and im disgusted at their tactics.
Im going to be on the phone first thing monday to air my views...if they had of done their homework correctly and maybe even asked the bank is the account just being used for bills this would never of happened .....Bl**dy OR!!!!!!!!!!
I do want to point out the coop were great as usual and the lady was so nice and i did get an apology (which was not her responsibility to give)
Anyway, rant over and Matt do let us know how you get on.
Onwards and Upwards is the way im going :-0)

I don't know if this is relevant but one anomaly with the coop cashminder account is that there is often a lag between the account balance and the available balance synchronising. i have brought this up with the coop customer services but no one seems to have an answer. Also, if you log in online it sometimes says that account balance and available balance are the SAME even though you know they should be different! if you check your balance on a cash machine I have found that the correct available balance will show. You just need to keep a tally of all transactions on paper just in case the system lets you down. of course, a coop account could easily be closed if a customer goes into debit and they probably would not care too much what the excuse is, however justified. |

When I looked at previous statements they all show DR before my salary goes in the same day. This has been happening since day 1, and I read on another forum that it's nothing to worry about.
Because the online banking doesn't show the available balance correctly I've got a spreadsheet where I list anything due to go out in red, and change it to black when the transaction is made.

Hi Guys
I have just got back from chrissy shopping and i thought i would add in my bit.
I too end up with OD on the day my other halfs wages go in as all the DD's go out on the same day. The first time i noticed this i called the coop and i was told that because money went in the same day then they dont charge you.
Mine has done this ever since and i dont worry.
I have not had my card declined by anyone at all, and i did open mine after BR so hopefully it will all be ok.
I do keep a record of all transactions as my old alliance & leicester used to do the same, i would think i had more money as the balance showed more but now i know that its not always the case and i leave enough to cover all debits.
LOL

I think that DD's etc go out just after midnight ( i.e. very first transaction of the day), therefore if funds are going into the account they tend to be available later in the day.
This means that there is always a gap - even though it is on the same day - where there is a shortfall

Sorry, dont know if im explaining very well but my cb went in on monday 24 november (on statement it normally shows the monday) but this week it showed tuesday 25th.....Also with regards to being charged a fee i already had a credit balance of £300 on 26th and i also paid £310 cash in (this only showed on 27th) my gas/elec come out on 28th, which is only £155 therefore i should never have been charged anyway.
Normally all dates show as and when they happen on my statement it is only this week, plus its not even showing where the money has been paid in from and out to its just showing debit.
I will be keeping a close eye out as 19.50 is alot of money to be charged for being in credit.

Have you spoken to the Co-op Jenny? It might be worth mentioning it to them as it's not fair that you have to pay when it's not your fault. Also Co-op have a '3 strikes and your out' policy regarding going overdrawn - if it happens 3 times they close the account.
Paul, none of the payments that have gone out of my account are direct debits, they are all transfers and cash withdrawals which are done later in the day...

Hey Skippy,
Yes i was straight on the phone and made it clear that they got it wrong on their end....and they have apologised and promised that it will go back into my account on Tuesday, as they have an overnight processing system. I will be keeping an eye out - Also would they close my account even if they admitted it was their mistake?

I very much doubt they would close the account as it was their error. The people I've heard about having their accounts closed have gone overdrawn through their own error.

Hi Mac
I dont think you have anything to worry about, it seems that its rather rare and so do open one in Feb when you need to.
Its still the best account available to BR right now, so i am not worrying about them, i check mine daily online, thats the other reason i went for this account.

Hi MAC
I do actually agree with Jo here.....
I still very much believe this is a very rare scenario and am very happy with the account - still
Since also finding out at the weekend about the or telling the coop to freeze my account as they saw the balance (clearly forgot its a bills account), i am more inclined to think the problem is that, as opposed to the coop.
I am phoning or at 9am so will let you know what they say.
