We are due to move into a rented house on Monday and are planning to go bankrupt in the new year.
I will be giving my final meter readings to the gas and electric company who is a different supplier to the one at the new address. I pay by direct debit and as fas as i know shouldnt really be in arrears or if i am they should only be small. Is it OK to pay off the final bills when they arrive as I may want to switch the new house supply to these providers so keeping them right might help or will this go against me with regards to the OR.
Also, my the BT bill for the old house will be about £150. I have told them i am moving but would like to start paying again by direct debit but only the new house costs rather than a higher amount to pay off old house bill. Would it be ok to pay BT the £150 as a one off payment? I have the same account number when i move house as i did at the old house.
As long as you make some effort to make even a nominal payment back before you go bankrupt (and considering the amounts we're talking about here), you should be ok.
