Hi Help

I dont know if there is such a timescale for it going in the local papers, i dont even know if mine did as i never saw it and i think its right at the back and usually people tend not to read them anymore.

I only had one person mention to me about my BR and that was because someone i trusted told his ex, who then told my neice of whom i had said nothing too, other than that its not been mentioned. Mt friends ex had also gone BR in 2006/07 and like me i did not know as its not common knowledge.

I think its only saddos that actually look for them, so i would not worry too much.

Help 007,

Yes, your name goes forward to the London Gazette (for bankrutcies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland) but you may well find it is hit and miss whether you will go up in lights in a local newspaper. Perhaps not. I hope you don't know anyone who might be looking out for such a thing and, lets face it, perhaps it is a case of who cares what they think. That's the way I look at it.

Hi Leslie

When are you due to be discharged? How are things going with the bankruptcy?

I never noticed mine in any local papers but i dare say they were there.

Take care

i have a house with my wife (in both names)with plenty of equity.
trustee wanted £40000 for my share, i haggled over the valuation and now they will accept £25000, wife remortgaging at the moment to buy my share.

Hi Leslie

Thats great news about the haggling with them. The day you went BR was the day we decided enough was enough and decided on the bankruptcy route so i have memories of that day too.

This year we are going away to Haven on that day so will try and forget. My Mum & Dad have said they will help towards the cost of the holiday with us as its the only time we can go as our eldest has his final exams so cant take him out of school.

Best of luck with it all.

LOL

Leslie,

When did the trustee first get in touch?

I was BR in June got ED in december but still not heard from trustee about the house. I think i am now in negative equity and would hope my wife would be allowed to purchase the BI for £1 plus costs. Really frustrated waiting now, especially now i am discharged i just want it all sorted.

trustee sent a surveyor to value house, he did at £150000,
i had my own surveyor one month earlier he valued at £140000
when i asked how the price of my house had gone UP 10k in 5 weeks she couldn't answer so agreed to do a new desktop valuation, in the few months it took for her to get back to me the house had dropped to £125000.

these were paid surveyor reports and not a free valuation by an estate agent.

Leslie,

The trustee has 3 years in which to deal with the house. I also provided a reputable valuation (Alliance Surveyors) and back in July i had a maximum of £8k equity (that was before early redemption charges which would of reduced equity to £2k). 6 months on and i am sure i would be in negative equity now, i have spoken to the OR and he just keeps saying he is passing my file on to another department which i assume is a trustee. I know i am lucky to have got ED but i just want my house sorting out now. My fear is that they will wait for 3 years to see whether house prices go back up.

Hey Help 007

I was very lucky, as no-one has approached me to tell me they saw the ad. But also luckily for me it wasn't in my local paper, it was in another area local paper.

I was sooooo dreading it, but it went in with about 50/60 others and i was tucked into the corner.

DONT worry - if people read them then i find that very strange

xx

Onwards and Upwards is the way im going :-0)

From "Moneyworries" to "Movin On" in 3 months is fantastic :-))

xx
