Hi, I am planning BR at the end of this month. I have a car which is worth around £1800, I only work 2 days a week, I am worried that the OR will not see this as a valid reason to keep the car as I am not going to work everyday. The car is very sentimental to me as it was left to me by my partner when he died just over 2 years ago. It also has a personalised number plate which contains his initials, probably of no use to anyone else, I dont think it is valuable as I beleive it is an irish no. plate. I don't think I can bear to lose the car or the plate but I know the OR would not be interested in sentimentality. Any advice please. Thanks Sandie
Hi there You say around £1800 value , if it was independantly valued how much would it be worth and then check the value of the number plate on one of various websites selling Irish plates. Combine these figures together and if it is more than £1800 the OR may well want to realise the value, i have read £1500 is the figure above which he becomes interested but i'm not sure if it depends on the individual OR.
Thanks for your reply Chester, I am really worried now as I don't want to lose the car and will fight to keep it but I will look at the websites to see if I can get a more accurate value.
