I have debts in excess of £50000 from when i was self employed. I now work part time (not in self employment) and pay for a university course i attend. If i declared myself bankrupt would i be allowed to carry on paying for my course. Also, i have avoided bankruptcy from fear of losing my home. Its in my partners name but we had to take out joint life insurance to cover the eventual cost of the house as its an interest only mortgage. Would both of these be affected by bankruptcy.

Do you have a rental agreement in place for the property?

How much are your fees?

You could also give the Official Receiver helpline a call, I find them quite helpful. 02072 916895

I dont know what a rental agreement is, my partner has a mortgage on the property and he pays all of the bills, including the mortgage, by direct debit. My wages are about £6oo per month and pay for childrens clothes, school uniform etc and food for the family. My university fees are £570 per term which i am struggling to pay but want to continue with the course as it gives me hope of gaining future employment with decent wages. I have recently had a CCJ (will i have to continue paying this after bankruptcy) and will probably receive more if i dont declare myself bankrupt. Thanks.
