my wife and myself are going bankrupt in the next few weeks,we gave up our home last january-handed back the keys-we are still in negative equity. we have been renting a property, through a private landlord, whom is a nice enough guy, however we have been told that he will be informed of the bankrupsy, and also my wifes employers, she works in care. we are both really worried that due to myself being out of work, that we could be homeless and my wife lose her job!we can see ourselves living in a tent-living off of road-kill,and raiding allotments, just to survive!!!sorry about the mad minute, needed that!otherwise id be crying!!-thaught about living in a caravan too-but we cant get a pitch! why do landlords and employers need to be informed? we are still good and honest people. |

Coxy
The OR should not contact your wifes employer as such, the only time they will be contcated is via the payroll to start an Nil tax code IPA so i would say thats safe.
As for your home, i would say that would be ok too. Have a look at the agreement and see if bankruptcy is mentioned, if you are really worried then contact the agents/landlord anonymously or if your on good terms maybe you could have a quiet chat.
I would say that as long as you have been paying the rent and on time and that the landlord has no quarms with you then you should be ok, they would rather have money for rental than an empty property.
Please dont panic you wont end up in a tent, if they did decide to ask you to go you would get notice and then can go and see your local housing authority.

Hi Coxy
It will get sorted out and before you know it you will be posting on here saying "Now when i went .................." blah blah.
I wish i had done it sooner but hey i am so glad that i did it when i did.
I have a life again, the stress almost disapeared over night once we had gone BR, just sorting our home out now.
Keep posting and keep smiling
