if I declare myself bankrupt am I allowed to have a bank account to pay utility bills by direct debit and also to have my Income support,DLA and housing Benefit paid to me
Yes certian banks will allow you a basic banking facility with a cash card and direct debit facilities.
I have always found Nationwide and Abbey National to be very helpful with my clients, however Paul of Reviva added in an earlier link:
" I know that the COOP do offer bank accounts to" people in bankruptcy. The account is called a CASHMINDER account, it offers direct debit / standing orders / online banking and gives you a Visa Electron card. The number you need is 0845 602 7057
