Hi Am to be made bankrupt by the inland revenue on the 27 feb ,court in london, i have been issued with all details time etc. Do i need/have to attend? i have received no pack ie where i can detail my financial state in readiness for the officil receiver, have googled this and am unsure what will happen on the 27th when this goes through, i would have petitioned for my own bankruptcy but they can't fit me in at the local court before that date!! Thanks in advance Matt
You do not need to attend the High Court on The Strand.
The process is an automatic one unless you intend to defend your position ( which is quite hard to do if you owe £750 or more and have has the Statutory Demand served correctly)
You will not be issued with any more paperwork until after the event.
The official receivers will write to you informing you of what has happened and provide you with several documents for you to fill out. The main document is similar to the statement of affairs that you would use if you petitioned yourself but is a different document.
You will then have an interview with your local OR's office in due course.

Many thanks for your reply that is a relief ! This is second time for me ( i can,t quite beleive i managed it once let alone twice) still circumstances and all that, first time was 7 yrs ago after 13 yrs as a sole trader and i did it myself to clear a very old tax bill that i couldnt get on top of, this is similar but got behind 2 yrs ago after a illness and again have struggled to get caught up also no chance of credit/loan and a zero tolerance from ir so am expecting a rougher ride this time from the o/receiver. Any one done this twice its the unknown that causes the sleepless nights ! Thanks again Matt
I just wanted to welcome you and say that i don't know exactly how your feeling as i have only ever been there once. However would like to add that you are not alone as a few members have been second timers. Please do not give yourself a hard time, as you say its fear of the unkown.
Good luck and keep posting for support
