I am on the verge of declaring bankruptcy after careful consideration of all options. I share a house with 2 flatmates and wonder if their credit rating might be affected as a result of them sharing an address with me? |

Hey Ant
Your flatmates credit rating should not be affected, unless you have any financial links (i.e. joint account, joint mortgage etc) you could always (If you really would feel better) file a notice of disassociation with each of the reference agencies from your flatmates, however i very much doubt it will be needed.
Good luck and keep posting

Credit file information is only recorded against an individual not an address. Even a partner/spouse debt situation is not linked nor divulged on a credit search (even if you want to find out! I wanted to discover my ex's situation when we split and was unable to retrieve anything on him, nor did his debt situation, which was horrendous affect my credit file, as thankfully we had no joint debts) Your flatmates are safe from your debt history
Hope this helps

I live with my partner and my debts and subsequent BR haven't affected his credit rating. Since I went BR he has taken out a new mortgage, had his credit limits increased and taken out a new credit card.
