Hello everyone,

I am filling in the online forms and a bit stuck on a couple of points.
I live with my partner with her daughter in a rented house. I work full time and she is on disability benifits. My wages pays for most of the household bills leaving my partner to pay for the shopping and the electric bill.
I realise that i can write off a bit of shopping as money leaves my account each month as 'cash' but what do i put on the forms for elec?

Also, it is her name only on our contract agreement with our landlord, so am i correct in thinking that it is her name i put down as my landlord? or do i put the real landlords name i.e. the owner of the house

Hi

the expenditure figures should be the total cost to the household irrespective of whose income pays for which bill. You have to include your partners contribution to the household costs to cover this.

For the electricity claim you should therefore enter the full monthly electricity cost to the household.

And yes I would list your partner as your landlord and the owner of the property as "anyone else having an interest in the property" I think it's question 8.4 on the SoA..

Thank you for your reply and I understand what your saying.
The only problem I can see is that she can bring in around £600 a month. It is fine putting the elec down, and her contribution to the household costs, but wont the OR want to know where the rest of her money goes. She has her own financial responsibilities and there is no place on the forms to add those.
so I guess what im asking is, will the OR look at mine and her income together and just deduct the household outgoings, leaving quite a bit for the IPA, which is basically her money that has nothing to do with me?

Not too sure, but I think it is only your disposable income which is taken into account for the IPA if you are going BR on your own, not your partners.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

I went br and hubby did not - i only had to put his contributions down and NOT his income. They will take into consideration your partner needs to pay their own debts/bills. They have never asked for proof of hubby's earnings so dont worry

Onwards and Upwards is the way im going :-0)

From "Moneyworries" to "Movin On" in 3 months is fantastic :-))

xx

I was never asked for proof of my partner's income either. I put his contribution to the household expenses and the OR was happy with that.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
