Hi pete

You can't do this but Mum can.

Your Mum should write to the credit reference agencies (Experian ; Equifax and Credit Call) and request a copy of her credit report. Cost should be approx £2 per report and the addresses can be found online. She should give her full name and all postal addresses for the last 6 years.

Any entries in the report(s) which have nothing to do with her should be marked and sent back with a letter asking to be disassociated from these and from you.

If you have no credit in joint names with your mum, she should be ok anyway.

Hubby and I both have IVA's and our daughter (same surname still) is still at home and she has managed to credit with no problem at all.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

I live with my partner and went BR at his address and he hasn't had any problems - he got a new mortgage with a different lender and a new credit card.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Hi Peter

how long have you been out of the UK now?

If you have been abroad for over 3 years then it will be difficult to petition ib the UK.,k

If you have been resident here within the last 3 years then you can either fly back to the UK and petition at the High Court in London ( fees are £507 but are likely to rise after April)

Alternatively you can petition while abroad but need to have a "Lasting Power of Attorney" in place so that someone else can represent you at court and sign the appropriate forms.

These cost £150 to have registered, and can take 3 - 4 months to have registered with the Office of the Public Guardian.

You can either have a friend / family member or a thord party company represent you.

Thankyou allfor your input. It really is a testing time trying to sort all these things out.
I cant seem to find a place to write to for CREDITCALL to get a credit report. Does anyone have any ideas?
Also if all the credit reference agencies are global will my BR folow me to the US and cause me a lot of problems. I would really like a fresh start and need to be financially prudent over here as my wife has debt here we are trying to manage before we end up in the same situation here.
thanks again for your input.
good luck to all.
