Hi Although im on benefits at the moment and wont return to work for a long while, this is really bugging at the moment, is their a minimum amount you have to earn before they make an IPA.
Ive seen a few jobs that pay about £770 a month and my outgoings if I go back to work would be
Rent to mum and Dad - £420 Gym £34 Mobile phone £15.00 Housekeeping including clothing and food for work £175.00 Travel £80.00 public transport Contingency £15.00 Health insurance for glasses, dental etc £31
Total - £770
Would the OR Examiner give an IPA on this
Thanks

It depends on the surplus you have left after your essential outgoings. You need to have £100 or more before they will go for an IPA.

Hi
from our conversations and your post above I really can't see you getting an IPA, as there are many real costs that you have not lsited above.

Thanks Paul
What costs havent I listed, I dont want to sound awful but I dont want an IPA due to my previous past record with jobs I may not fulfil the three years, plus a clear start before bankruptcy would be great, I know that sounds terrible. So Paul what have I missed out, and are the above acceptable, and what amount per month should I look for, as ive seen another job in a shop for £840 a month or their is my old job at £1143 a month.
Please advise

Hi
if you start to work again then you may want to start paying a full rent rather than the subsidised rent + contribution to electricity / gas and council tax.
Again when you start working you can allocate £10 for haircuts, and possibly an allowance for dry cleaning if appropriate

Sorry to be thick Could you give me an example of the outgoings I can have and the amounts allowed so when I do start looking for work I know what to look for.
Also if I return to my job in Preston the train Journey would be £165 per month plus another £40 for buses Would that be acceptable too
Thanks
Stu

Hi
There isn't a list of general costs as each person has specific required costs relative to their own situation.
So for example if you returned to work in Preston the train & bus costs would be acceptable - The OR may want to see evidence but after the evidence it would be fine.
Also unless you are heavily subsided by friends / family ( i.e. with a low rental contribution / utilities etc ) then I suspecy with your travel costs it would be hard to get an IPA if you earned under £1200 per month

Thanks Paul
Im living with my parents but although they have agreed to cut my rent down to £40 until I get back to work they are struggling now and rely on my £420 a month. It only includes basic food at home, not all food and not food for work
